Greencastle golf club, whose course was extended to 18 holes in 1992, is planning more improvements. The club, which is situated on the north east of the Inishowen Peninsula, 20 miles north of Derry, plans to purchase more land to further develop the existing holes. On Sunday next the The first Team of Four Competition, the proceeds of which will go to the development fund, will take place on Sunday on the banks of the Foyle. Tee times are available at 077-81013.

Meanwhile, Pauline Casey, a member at Greencastle, is finding the present terrain much to her liking. She has reduced her handicap by 10 shots in the last five weeks. Staring with 42 points in the open singles on April 3rd, Casey has since shot 42 points on April 15th in the Ulster Sports and Recreation Trust and followed with a magnificent 46 points in winning the Daphne Liggett Cup on April 29th. She was introduced to the game by her husband, Hugh, a single figure handicapper, and her handicap is now down to 26 and looks like it can be reduced further in the months to come.
