Women's Hockey: Nikki King and Mary Goode, two of the goalkeepers on the Ireland senior panel, were in exceptional form at Milltown yesterday where Old Alexandra and Pembroke Wanderers drew their Leinster League fixture, a result that suited neither club in their pursuit of Hermes and Loreto in Division One.

King denied Pembroke a first- half lead when she saved Sarah Clarke's penalty stroke, before Hazel Agar gave Alexandra the lead minutes before the break. Viv Doran levelled for Pembroke midway through the second half as both goalkeepers excelled.

On Saturday, Evanne O'Reilly helped herself to four goals in Alexandra's 10-0 thrashing of Trinity while Clarke and Siobhán Kane got the goals that gave Pembroke the narrowest of wins over Corinthian. Loreto, meanwhile, fought back from a 2-1 deficit at half-time to beat UCD, with Cathy McKean scoring twice in the second half to secure the win.

Loreto, Pembroke and Alexandra are all now on 13 points - Loreto have a game in hand - a point behind Hermes, who beat Genesis 5-0 yesterday. Jenny Burke top-scored with a hat-trick, with Aoife Mitchell and Christine Quinlan completing the scoring.
