Áine Donegan recorded the best placing of her Ladies European Tour career so far with a tied-10th finish at the PIF London Championship, but the week, and final round, promised much more at Centurion Club.
Donegan started the day in third place and made the ideal start on Sunday with four birdies in her first seven holes to in touch with the leaders, and was in third place with 10 holes to go.
But bogeys at the ninth and 14th killed the Lahinch golfer’s momentum, and while she birdied the 15th, she had a disappointing closing stretch with a double bogey on the 16th and bogeys on the 17th and 18th holes to come home in 40 shots.
A final round one-over-par 74 meant Donegan finished on 10 under, 12 shots behind the winner Anna Huang, the 17-year-old who won her fourth LET tournament over Charley Hull.

The Canadian had her own whirlwind day, where the trophy had seemed to have slipped from her grasp before Hull four-putted the penultimate hole for a double bogey. With a one-shot lead, Huang superbly eagled the par 5 18th hole for the fourth day in succession to win the title by two strokes on 22 under. Singapore’s Shannon Tan, who shot a final round of 64, was third on 17 under.
Donegan’s tied-10th finish was the first of her LET career and earned her $37,647, moving her to 67th in the order of merit, with the top 70 keeping their card for next season.
