Harrington misses the cut

Padraig Harrington shot a second successive 72 for a 144 total but missed the halfway cut in the Deutsche Bank Championship, in Boston on Saturday.

While Harrington was heading out of the tournament, Tiger Woods and Phil Mickelson were moving up the leaderboad with eight-under-par rounds of 64.

The pair continued their charge in the third round with Woods shooting a four-under-par 67 to lead in the Clubhouse on 10-under-par 203. Mickelson was also on 10-under-par after 14 holes while the leader on the course was Brett Wetterich at 14-under-par through 15 holes.

Pyman holds on

Iain Pyman resisted the pressure of the chasing pack to pick up the ECCO Tour Championship and set up the chance of a return to The European Tour.

The Englishman began the final round with a two shot lead at the Odense Golf Club and finished the day winning by three strokes and collecting €€20,800 after a gutsy performance packed with knowledge and experience that saw off second placed Magnus A Carlsson of Sweden and England's John E Morgan.

Irish in pole position

Reigning Irish champion, Shane Lowry fired a sparkling six-under-par 67 in the second round of the Portugal Nations Cup at Vale de Lobo in the Algarve. Supported by team mates Niall Kearney and Simon Ward, Ireland holds a four-shot lead over Sweden going into today's final round.Lowry, who shot a three-under-par 70 in the opening round, had five birdies, an eagle at the sixth and one bogey in his second round 67, leads the individual table by one shot from England's Chris Woods, who also shot a second round 67 having had a first round of 71.

Kearney shot 72 in the second round while Ward produced a sensational finish to his second round. After a disappointing opening effort of 78, he was level par after 14 holes and finished birdie, birdie, par, eagle - for a four under par 69.

Hauert wins by three

Germany's Bettina Hauert secured her second Ladies European Tour victory after a dramatic and rain-soaked final round at the Finnair Masters in Finland. The 25-year-old carded rounds of 68, 67 and 72 to finish with a six-under-par aggregate of 207.

Her three-stroke victory over Sweden's Johanna Westerberg at the Helsinki Golf Club was the perfect warm-up for her debut appearance on the European Solheim Cup Team in 12 days' time.

Rebecca Coakley was again best of the Irish on 223 after rounds of 71, 77 and 75. Hazel Kavanagh played steady for 224 while Claire Coughlan disappointed with a final round of 79 for 227.
