Four goals in 16 second-half minutes destroyed Glenavon's hopes of booking a place in today's first-round draw in the European Cup Winners' Cup.

Level at 1-1 after the first leg in Northern Ireland, Glenavon kept out the Warsaw side until the 73rd minute.

But then their defence collapsed in a big way, with Jacek Kacprzak's 73rd minute goal being followed by two from Tomasz Sokolowski in the 76th and 89th minutes and one from Pawel Skrzypek in the 86th.

Glenavon could have taken the lead before Legia's goal rush, as Grzegorz Szamotulski produced stunning saves from James McCartan and Gary Smith early in each half.

But, as the game wore on, Legia's superior fitness began to tell and following Kacprzak's super strike, the floodgates opened.

Sokolowski fired home a ferocious 25-yard freekick three minutes later to justify his call-up to the Polish national squad.

With five minutes to go, Glenavon's defence opened up again and Skrzypek scored from close range to give the scoreline an unflattering look.

It became even more deceptive when Sokolowski stroked home a penalty with a minute to go.

Glenavon's exit now means all Irish League clubs are out of European competition following Coleraine's defeat to Grasshoppers and Crusaders' loss to Dinamo Tbilisi.
