The Georgian Football Federation (GFF) will not appeal the order imposed by UEFA that it play its European Championship qualifying match against Russia behind closed doors as a punishment for the treatment received by Ireland's players from the crowd during last month's 2-1 win in Tbilisi.

The news will come as a disappointment to the FAI, whose officials had been hoping that the Russian team would at least be subjected to a more restrained version of the hostility endured by Brian Kerr's players.

UEFA's original decision had been made despite an assurance from the Georgia government that there would no trouble at the Russia game.
