CAMOGIE: Galway and Kilkenny were victorious yesterday in their respective National League Division One ties, defeating Cork and Clare in impressive fashion.
Galway proved too strong for a Cork that was missing Briege Corkery and Anna Geary as they won 1-16 to 0-10 at Martinstown, Co Limerick.
Brenda Hanney got the goal for Galway, while Aislinn Connolly hit six points among a total of eight scorers, while Jennifer O’Leary (six) and Katrina Mackey (four) grabbed all of Cork’s scores
Kilkenny produced a spirited second half performance to record their first win. A Chloe Morey goal just before the interval, pushed Clare 1-4 to 0-2 in front at the break.
Aoife Neary was in brilliant form for the Cats after the restart though and she fired over point after point to bring her final tally to nine in a 0-11 to 1-4 victory.
