Bad weather finally caught up on the students at Oriel Park last night where Dundalk recorded their first win of the season in difficult conditions. UCD worked hard but their ball distribution was poor.

Dundalk took the lead after 25 minutes when Lee Thew glanced a header to the UCD net on a corner kick taken by David Crawley.

The turning point of the game came shortly before half-time when Dundalk goalkeeper Steve Williams made a good save at the feet of Owen Bennis.

Indeed Williams handling was a factor in helping Dundalk to win while at the other end his opposite number Barry Ryan, although making at least one very good save was at fault for Dundalk's second score.
