Leslie Bowe celebrated his first major win in West Waterford golf club last week with victory in Bill Spratt's President's Prize. It was hard going for the 14 handicapper who had to hold off the challenge of his playing partners Bill McManus and Pat Twomey. The magical three-ball had no fewer than 71 points between them after nine holes.
But Leslie proved best under pressure on the back nine and after a couple of shaky holes he went on to win with 42 points.
