AFTER Manchester United's win last night, manager Alex Ferguson declared that the Premiership was going to be "one incredible finish."

One bookmaker is even making United favourites now and Ferguson said "It's a race now. It closes the whole thing up. It gives us a chance and a few weeks ago that chance wasn't good. It's going to be one heck of a game now when Liverpool play Newcastle at Anfield.

United have won their last six league games and Ferguson said "We needed this kind of run to be honest to give us a real title winning chance.

"I thought we were nervous at the back in the first half they were a far better side and Peter Schmeichel made two or three great saves.

"To be honest, I couldn't wait to get to half time. I think at the start of the second half, we imposed ourselves like a Manchester United team should.

"The goal set Newcastle back I feel and they found it difficult after that.

"Eric Cantona took his goal very well. We had other chances in the second half and I must say I was really pleased with the performance from everyone in that period."

"This result has not done us any harm tonight. We have hit aa vein of form. We showed the determination and team spirit we have."

Kevin Keegan could not hide his disappointment. "We didn't play half as well in the second half as we did in the first. It was asking a lot to repeat that," he said.

"In the first half we were superb. If ever a side took a hammering at 0-0 it was them tonight. I couldn't find fault with anyone."

"Manchester United have got a lot of good athletes in their side and it showed in the second half." No qualms, I thought they took a terrible battering in the first half but came out and showed a lot of character in the second.

"You have to give them credit. I thought they were tremendous in the second half.

As for the title race, Keegan added defiantly "I have told the lads that we are still one point ahead of them with a game in hand. If we win that game we are four points ahead, again."
