Damien Faulkner is flying the Irish flag successfully in North American motor racing, having had two wins and a second-place finish in his first season of competing in the highly-charged Indy Lights Championship.

He scored impressive wins on the Texas Speedway and at Portland, Oregon. Last Sunday he missed out on a third victory by the narrowest of margins, beaten on the line by just 0.001 seconds by Kristian Kolby on the Kansas City oval.

The Moville man is now only 11 points behind leader Townsend Bell and with six of the 12 races to run he is in a strong challenging position for the series. "I can't wait for the Toronto street race next Sunday," he said after last Sunday's event.

After the Canadian race, Faulkner hopes to return to Co Donegal as championship leader before he jets back to the US for the championship race at Lexington, Ohio on August 12th.
