LEINSTER COLLEGES SH A LEAGUE RD TWO: Dublin South 3-11 Good Counsel 1-13TWO GOALS in the closing 10 minutes helped Dublin South Colleges to a deserved four-point victory at New Ross yesterday.
Despite heavy rain, both sides served up quality hurling and, at the end of the opening quarter, Dublin South led 0-4 to 0-2 thanks in the main to three points from James Roche.
Nine minutes before the break a long ball into the home side’s goalmouth broke for Fionn Maguire to tap in and Dublin South went on to lead 1-7 to 0-7 at the break, with points from Mark Aylward and Michael Redmond keeping the home side in touch.
Three points, 1-9 to 0-9, still separated the sides at the end of the third quarter, but, with nine minutes left, a Jamie Desmond goal gave the Dublin side a 2-9 to 0-11 lead.
Counsel responded two minutes later with an Eoin Kelly goal before Neil Gorey pounced for his side’s third goal two minutes from the end.
