Football challenge: In a game to mark the highlight of the Naomh Barróg's 30th anniversary celebrations, the Blue Stars triumphed courtesy of two late goals from Ray Cosgrove and Jason Sherlock in Kilbarrack.

With Mark Vaughan, along with former minors Barry Kennedy and David O'Callaghan, who formed the half forward line, the Blue Stars put it up to their opponents in the first half.

Kennedy found the net after five minutes with Kilmacud Crokes trio Vaughan, Mick O'Keeffe and Liam Ó hEineacháin adding scores to leave the Blue Stars in charge.

But Dublin were awarded a penalty on the half hour which Tomás Quinn converted.

Robbie Boyle got a goal midway through the second half to put Dublin up by 2-9 to 1-6. But as Paul Caffrey introduced Ciarán Whelan and Senan Connell, it was ironic that Sherlock and Cosgrove should prove the undoing of Dublin.
