DUBLIN GAA followers are faced with an unfortunate clash of interests on Sunday when clubs from the county are engaged in the Leinster football and hurling finals at separate venues.

Because of the postponement of, their hurling final clash last week, O'Toole's now travel to Park for the Leinster hurling final against Camross from Laois while, footballers, St Sylvester's, take on Eire Og from Carlow in Newbridge.

The clash of interests between club and county is highlighted elsewhere this week when four provincial club finals will take pride of place though six National League matches are scheduled.

Evidence of such a priority can be found in the decision of the Sligo and Carlow county boards to postpone their National League match in Markievicz Parc to facilitate Carlow champions Eire Og in their challenge for yet another Leinster championship.

Elsewhere Laune Rangers from Kerry face Clonakilty from Cork in Killarney in the Munster football final and Bellaghy from Derry meet Crossmaglen Rangers from Armagh in Clones. Again the National League plays second fiddle with Monaghan and Armagh meeting in a curtain-raiser with a 12.45 throw-in.

The former Galway midfielder, Brian Talty, has inspired St Sylvester's from Malahide to their first appearance in a Leinster final following wins over Shannonbridge from Offaly and Kilanerin from Wexford. It would indeed be a big boost to the Dublin GAA if St Sylvester's and O'Toole's could bring off the Leinster double.

The Ballygunner quartet of Fergal Hartley, Stephen Frampton, Billy O'Sullivan and Paul Flynn have been recalled to the Waterford team for Sunday's Waterford Crystal South Eastern League clash with Tipperary at Carrick-on-Suir.

These players have been unavailable for recent games because of the Munster club championship campaign and they replace Tony Browne, Derek McGrath, Michael White and Barry Walsh.
