A fascinating final prospect between Ireland and Pakistan Davis Cup players, John Doran and Omah Rashid, is guaranteed to round off the Heineken sponsored East of Ireland Open tennis championship on a high note at the Lansdowne club today.

Both players were impressive semi final winners last night, with Doran beating Britain's Simon Crabtree in an absorbing shoot out between the big hitters of the tournament. Doran's power and general approach, highlighted by a crucial break back in the eighth game of the second set, finally earned him a 6-3 7-5 win.

Rashid does not rely on power to the same extent as Doran, as was evident when outwitting Australian Chris Barkla 7-5 6-2. The women's final should be no less intriguing with Yvonne Doyle, the top seed poised for a big challenge from Claire Curran.
