Doolin has faith in Drogheda's ability to conjure away goal

Helsingborgs IF (1) v Drogheda Utd (1) Venue: Olympia Stadion Kick-off: 7.30pm: While Helsingborgs' manager Stuart Baxter has told his players they'll need to show more quality than they did in Dublin a fortnight ago if they're to be in the draw for the first round proper of the Uefa cup at lunchtime tomorrow, Drogheda boss Paul Doolin has reminded his charges to hold no fear of the Swedes in the Olympia Stadion tonight.

History and Henrik Larsson's away goal at Dalymount Park give Helsingborgs the advantage, as no League of Ireland side has overturned a European tie in the away leg. But it's an unwelcome record Doolin believes his side are capable of rewriting. "We can score goals," he said. "So far in the away games we've had we've only failed to score in one of them and that was against IK Start.

"It's similar to that tie, but the only different is we're away this time. I said after the Start game in Dalymount it was a great performance because you know you can't concede a goal. If we got that type of performance - disciplined, excellent, attacked well - and game, I'd be happy and we're capable of doing it."

Central defender Jason Gavin will be a key component in ensuring Drogheda keep a clean sheet and knows from the evidence of the first leg Larsson isn't the only threat Helsingborgs possess. "Their two strikers are very strong and are good on the ball, so that is their main threat," said former Ireland under-21 international Gavin. "We all know what Larsson's like - if he gets a chance then he will score. We must also stop crosses coming in and from him getting the ball in the box.

"I also thought the other striker (Razak Omotoyossi) was impressive. His pace was quite worrying, to be honest, and he is probably more of a danger than Larsson."

Patience in trying to get the goal back and not conceding an early one are key to Drogheda's hopes of getting through. "I would say they will be more attack-minded than the first leg as they are at home," said Gavin. "If they score then it's exactly the same as it was at Dalymount in that we must score.

"So I wouldn't be too worried if they score first. Obviously, however, our main objective is not to concede a goal early on. We have to score, but the main thing is not to worry if the goal doesn't come early. It's crucial that we relax although if the game goes into the last 10 or 15 minutes without us scoring then we will have to push on. We must keep it tight and if we get a chance then take it."

Richie Baker is Doolin's only absentee from the first leg as the winger recovers from a hamstring strain. Left-back Simon Webb, taken to hospital complaining of chest pains at half-time in last Friday's 1-1 draw at Bohemians, has travelled after a check up passed him fully fit.

Helsingborgs report no injuries concerns, though Macdonald Mariga and Olivier Karekezi are unsettled at the moment due to transfer speculation.

Baxter yesterday rubbished a local media question that Manchester United had enquired about getting Larsson back on loan.
