GRATEFUL FISHER:ROSS Fisher (pictured) – the 2010 Irish Open champion – was forced to miss last week's WGC-Bridgestone Invitational due to concern over his young son's health.

His four-month-old son Harry was taken ill during Fisher’s recent defence of the Irish Open in Killarney and the golfer – naturally – spent the following days by the child’s bedside.

Thankfully, he was given the all-clear after being diagnosed with a virus . . . but Fisher, who was entitled to last place prize money of approximately €20,000 from the Bridgestone, was so impressed with the treatment and care given to his son by hospital staff he has donated the entire sum to Killarney regional hospital.

Fisher returns to competitive action here in the USPGA, where he has a previous best finish of tied-19th in 2009.
