TWO spectacular goals by Derry City striker Liam Coyle earned the Northern side a place in the quarter finals of the FAI Cup agains struggling Home Farm/Everton at the Brandywell on Saturday night.
The 28 year old scored his second wonder goal in a week and even Home Farm's manager, Dermot Keely, applauded the Derry substitute's contribution, particularly that 56th minute goal when Coyle's strike found the top corner of Robert Forde's net.
But it was Home Farm who struck first. Having won three consecutive corners Home Farm's John Coady delivered a deep centre, Garrett Kelly headed the ball back across the face of goal and towering central defender Brendan Place bundled the ball home from close range.
With Home Farm content to concede their early territorial advantage, and sit back and soak up sustained pressure after the break, Derry huffed and puffed before Coyle struck in the 56th minute.
Having received possession following a Tommy Dunne free, the striker side stepped his marker before sending a glorious 35 yard strike to the net.
And 10 minutes later the same player steered Derry into the quarter finals when, with his back to goal, he turned sharply and hammered an angle drive home from 12 yards.
