GAELIC GAMES:LAR CORBETT has returned to the Tipperary senior hurling panel, it emerged last night. The 2010 Hurler of the Year, who stunned GAA by withdrawing from the Tipperary squad last week, has made a sensational return to the Premier County set-up.
Corbett (31), was not present in Clonlara last evening when Tipperary contested a senior hurling challenge against Clare. But the Thurles Sarsfields clubman is expected to return to training at Semple Stadium tomorrow night.
Tipperary senior hurling manager Declan Ryan will be anxious to dampen down expectations about Corbett making an immediate return to the starting line-up. Corbett has not been involved with his club this year and at this point in time, the man who has scored 26 championship goals for Tipperary is well below the fitness levels required for intercounty fare.
His return is a massive boost for Tipperary and if Ryan’s charges get past Limerick, Corbett would surely come into contention for a starting place against Cork in a potential Munster semi-final on June 24th.
