KERRY SFC: KERRY STAR Colm Cooper was back to his devastating best at the weekend, helping Dr Crokes demolish St Brendan's, 5-17 to 3-8, in the opening quarter-final played at the Austin Stack Park.

The Gooch was unstoppable in the first half, scoring goals in the eighth, 20th and 24th minutes and with further goals from Ambrose O’Donovan and Eoin Brosnan, Dr Crokes led 5-7 to 1-3 at the break.

They will meet the 2007 champions Feale Rangers who knocked out holders Mid Kerry 0-14 to 1-5 in their quarter-final.

Feale Rangers dominated midfield where Anthony Maher and Kerry selector Eamon Fitzmaurice held sway while Paul Galvin and Tadgh Kennelly won breaking ball in the half-forward line.

Austin Stacks, with Kieran Donaghy and William Kirby at midfield, held on to beat a Mike Frank Russell-inspired Laune Rangers 0-13 to 1-9 in their quarter-final and they will meet South Kerry in next Sunday’s double header in Tralee, after Bryan Sheehan led his side to a 1-12 to 1-8 win over local rivals St Michael’s/Foilmore.

In the club championship final yesterday, Kerins O’Rahillys defeated Ardfert, 2-12 to 1-6 at Austin Stack Park and will represent Kerry in the Munster club championship if a divisional side wins the county championship.

Near the end of the game there was a mass brawl involving 29 players (Declan Quill of Rahilly’s stayed in his position) and both sets of substitutes.
