Cool Treacy takes Old Crescent to the top

Old Crescent moved to the top of Division Two after coming from behind to beat their Munster rivals Sunday's Well 19-15. Craig Doyle and Matthew Bird ran in tries for Old Crescent with Sunday's Well scoring through Declan Coppinger and Colm Hayes. Once again the assured Billy Treacy earned victory for his team when he landed his third kick of the game.

UCD moved into fourth place with a last gasp try to deny Greystones. Prop Michael Moynagh, with the entire student pack helping him along, went over in the 79th minute.

Gibson Park provided Old Belvedere with an opportunity to keep up with the pace and again Donal Martin was at the heart of their victory, landing six kicks. Malone took the lead when Mark Crothers went over after three minutes but that was as far as the Belfast side got. Kevin O'Malley crossed for a Belvedere try after 18 minutes, Martin doing the rest from his boot.

New Zealanders Junior Charlie and Mark O'Connell finally broke the deadlock for Galwegians against UCC at Crowley Park after a scoreless first-half. McConnell went over from a ruck before Charlie added his try from a rolling maul. Brian O'Mahony kicked two penalties for the students. Although resting Brian O'Driscoll and Bob Casey, Blackrock still left Chambers Park with a comfortable 6-22 victory and with their perfect record intact after four games. Flanker Gavin McCarthy scored after seven minutes with full back Tom Keating adding another 10 minutes later. David Quinlan and Hubi Kos tries added to the Portadown misery while Ben Matthew replied with two penalties.

In mid-table Bective Rangers had a one sided win over Wanderers at Lansdowne Road. Paul Hatton, Des Jackson, John Bolger and Tommy Sheehy each scored tries to also ensure the visitors a valuable bonus point.

In one of the high scoring games it took an injury time penalty from Niall Malone to give Belfast Harlequins a last gasp win over Dolphin at Deramore Park. Harlequins seemed to be cruising with a 19-12 half-time lead until Dolphin came back into the game. The irrepressible Malone, however, kicked five penalties and two conversions in his side's win.
