STEVE COLLINS returns to the scene of his greatest triumphs next week to publicise his next world title defence against Neville Brown. He will fly into Cork from his training camp in Jersey next Monday for a press conference at which it is intended to announce details of the rest of the bill for his appearance in the Green Glens Arena in Millstreet on March 9th.
Collins has made a shrewd move by choosing Jersey as his training base, as the island has missed the worst ravages of the severe weather in the rest of Britain.
He said yesterday that he found that returning from the United States before his previous fight with Chris Eubank had put a strain on him as far as jet lag was concerned, and that he had found an acceptable base in Jersey which met with all of his demands as far as sparring partners and other facilities are concerned.
Collins has also denied that he has had a dispute with the hypnotist, Tony Quinn. "He is in the United States on business at the moment but I expect he will be in my corner for the fight in Millstreet just like he was the last time," said Collins.
On that occasion Eubank, the then defending champion, threatened to pull out of the fight claiming that Collins was cheating and using "mind games" in order to "spook" him.
