WELSH coach Kevin Bowring will be telling his players to take "personal responsibility" for not having scored twice as many as the five tries they ran in during their 31-10 victory over the Barbarians.
It was the fourth win in nine outings during his reign as coach but Bowring knows his side will have to improve vastly for the challenges that lie ahead before Christmas - France, Italy, Australia and South Africa.
"There was a very disappointed changing room after the game. We could have scored twice as many tries," said Bowring. "There was a great improvement in the speed of the ball we won. The ball, was in play for 37 minutes in this game. But we still lack an understanding of when to go wide and when to take the right option.
"There were bar too many errors again. People have to take personal responsibility for this."
The game never reached the heights of the Baa-Baas 48-45 victory over Scotland the previous weekend in the Dunblane memorial match at Murrayfield, and only seven tries were scored.
Welsh centre Nigel Davies got two of them, the first after only 90 seconds, hut the 19,000 crowd had to wait until the dying moments for something to savour when scrum half Rob Howley raced 40 metres up the touchline to score a dramatic try.
Barbarians president Micky Steele-Bodger was critical of the Welsh attitude. "It takes two sides to make the game go."
