Laois SHC Final replay: Castletown regained the title they last held two years ago with a one-point victory over Camross in yesterday's replay of the Laois senior hurling championship decider at O'Moore Park in Portlaoise.
When the sides met two weeks ago a late goal from Zane Keenan ensured the sides would have to meet again and the same player opened the scoring after three minutes.
David Cuddy levelled for Castletown five minutes later, but points from Damien Keenan and Ken Cuddy - as well as a marvellous score from Fran Hogan - saw Camross extend their lead to 0-5 to 0-1 after 25 minutes.
However, Castletown got themselves back into the game just before the break when a Cyril Cuddy pass was flicked to the net by James Hooban.
The final score of the half, however, went to Camross with a point by substitute Tom Bourke leaving two points between the teams.
On the resumption Zane Keenan added two Camross points, with David Cuddy replying with a pair for Castletown. Paul Cuddy added another Castletown point, but a score on the end of the third quarter from Zane Keenan saw Camross still lead by two points - 0-9 to 1-4.
However, two in a row from placed balls from David Cuddy saw Castletown equalise and further scores from substitute Pat Mullanney and David Cuddy saw the former champions lead by two points - 1-8 to 0-9.
The game was then held up for 10 minutes after an off-the-ball incident which resulted in Dean Delaney of Camross being removed to hospital and Castletown goalkeeper Ger Cuddy receiving a straight red card.
Up to that stage, despite poor underfoot conditions, the game had been a fine sporting contest.
When the game resumed, sharp-shooter Zane Keenan narrowed the gap to a single point, but time ran out for Camross.
