ROSCOMMON SFC FINAL: Castlerea, St. Kevin's 1-10 Western Gaels 0-6:FORMER COUNTY player Nigel Dineen was the hero for Castlerea St Kevin's as they retained the county title with a comfortable win over first-time finalists Western Gaels in a poor final before 3,000 fans at Hyde Park.
The 35-year-old was an effective target man at full forward in the first half before moving to centre forward in the second half.
Points from Dineen, Ger Heneghan (two), Enda Kenny, David Scahill and Seán Ryan helped Castlerea lead 6-2 at the interval. Western Gaels’ response came via two points by Derek Moran. Heneghan (two frees), Dineen and Kenny added scores to keep Castlerea in control despite replies for Gaels from Kevin Higgins (two) and Moran (two).
