Bums and seats

It is good to see the National League so concerned about the welfare of its supporters

It is good to see the National League so concerned about the welfare of its supporters. The January edition of the monthly magazine Irish Soccer provides a list of the clubs who are upgrading their facilities to provide seating for fans. Twelve clubs are mentioned, including Bohemians (16,000), Bray Wanderers (6,000), Cork City (6,000), Derry City (8,000), Finn Harps (4,000), Kilkenny City (2,000), Shamrock Rovers (6,000), Shelbourne (14,000), Sligo Rovers (6,000), St Patrick's Athletic (20,000), UCD (8,000), Waterford United (8,000).

All of which adds up to seats for 102,000 fans. The ambition is commendable, but the trick when all the work is completed will clearly be to fill them.
