Waterford's Tony Browne will miss next Sunday's Munster hurling championship first round game with Limerick at Pairc Ui Chaoimh. Last year's hurler of the year is ruled out because of an ankle ligament injury he picked up while training in Dungarvan last Sunday.
Browne was selected for the team on Monday night. There has been no announcement from Waterford manager Gerald McCarthy about his replacement. Because of the nature of the injury, there is now a serious worry about Browne being fit for the Munster semi-final against Cork, should Waterford win on Sunday.
Browne was understandably downhearted after hearing the news about the extent of his injury yesterday. "The doctor told me ligaments in the ankle are damaged and that was worse than I anticipated," he said.
