Olin Browne shot a four-under-par 66 yesterday and watched it hold up to claim a one-shot victory over five players at the Colonial golf tournament in Fort Worth, Texas for his second career PGA Tour title.

Brown, who won the Greater Hartford Open last year in a playoff, finished at eight-under 272 to earn his largest career cheque of $504,000.

Paul Goydos, Jeff Sluman, Tim Herron, Fred Funk and Greg Kraft finished tied for second at 273.

Japanese star Akiko Fukushima needed no spectacular final round yesterday to win the inaugural LPGA $800,000 Philips Invitational at the Onion Creek Club in Austin, Texas.

Fukushima, in her first year on the American tour, shot a one-over-par 71 and finished two shots in front of Sweden's Charlotta Sorenstam, the lesser-known sister of star Annika Sorenstam. Fukushima earned $120,000 as she claimed her first career LPGA Tour victory.
