WITH LESS than a week to go to the All-Ireland football final against Dublin, Kerry have injury concerns about centre back Eoin Brosnan and former centrefield All Star Séamus Scanlon.
Speaking at the county’s pre-All-Ireland media event in Killarney, manager Jack O’Connor said that it was a worry but that he wouldn’t have definitive news until later this week. Brosnan was injured at Friday night’s training and ended up on crutches as a precaution.
“He went over on his ankle,” said O’Connor, “which of course is a bit of a concern. So he’ll be getting treatment from here to the weekend, and see if he can get it sorted. But it’s obviously a concern.”
The Dr Crokes player was sent to Ennis for cryotherapy treatment, confirmed O’Connor. “It speeds up the healing of an injury apparently, but there’s no point speculating at this stage because we just have to wait and see as the week goes on.”
Scanlon is also a doubt. “Yeah, he had a bit of a problem there – he’s had an ongoing problem with a cyst on his neck and it just flared up again there last week. He had a bit of treatment and it’s kept him out of a few sessions. We’ll see how he looks on Tuesday night.”
