Kerry scored 2-4 in the opening 10 minutes of the game, Mike Conway and John Egan getting the goals.
Despite first-half goals from Eoin Clarke and Ciarán Coulter, Down were always playing catch-up as Kerry led by 2-10 to 2-4 at the interval.
Meanwhile, a 10-point haul from Billy White put Kildare on their way to a 0-24 to 1-11 victory over London in Clane.
London held a 1-9 to 0-8 advantage at half-time, Fergus McMahon scoring the visitors' goal.
Despite losing Richie Hoban to a red card, Kildare pulled away in the second half for an easy victory to ensure a semi-final place.
Carlow made it three wins when defeating Derry by 2-15 to 3-9 at Dr Cullen Park.
