This result was never really in doubt once Castlenock scrumhalf Ciaran Brady made the initial breakthrough in the 14th minute of a lopsided Leinster Schools' Junior Cup first-round encounter at Palmerstown yesterday.
Section A qualifiers St David's came to do battle, but their good intentions were lost in a flurry of Castlenock attacking. Yet, it was not until the sprightly Brady pierced the last line of resistance that Castlenock seemed to relax. Further tries from centre Colm Manning and his partner Kieron Collins got the message through to St David's. This would be an afternoon spent in brave defeat. And brave they were. Second-half tries came courtesy of prop Matt McClintic and full back Conor Meascall. Out-half Greg Stafford converted three times.
St David's' try came 10 minutes from time when hooker David Lee made the line.
