None. The main draw has not seen an Irish name in it for many years, while the juniors have occasionally thrown up some interesting prospects. The Nugent cousins, Karen and Stephen, both came to the Wimbledon junior event and did well, Karen narrowly losing out on a quarter-final place to Anna Smashnova, a girl now ranked 59th in the world. This year, Cork's Elsa O'Riain was entered in the junior draw, but didn't make it through to the main event. She did, however, win the Irish Close Championship over the weekend with a 62, 6-2 win over Gina Niland. That, as they say, tells you much about the current standards in international tennis.
