Waterford scored a comfortable victory over Kilkenny in the senior hurling tournament final at Dungarvan yesterday.
Kilkenny made the better start effort - but the home side went on to lead by 1-7 to 1-3 at the interval. Ken O'Shea goaled for the visitors in the 21st minute - a great solo - to tie the scores.
Waterford's goal came five minutes later when corner forward Anton Lannon found the net. Four points still separated the sides as the game entered the final quarter but Waterford shot four unanswered points in a six-minute period to put the game beyond Kilkenny's reach.
Dave Bennett, at half forward, shot seven of his side's points from play and frees as he punished any fouls by the Kilkenny backs.
