WATERFORD STALWARTS Dave Bennett and Tom Feeney yesterday announced their retirements from intercounty hurling.

A week after their former team-mate Paul Flynn called time on his Waterford career, defender Feeney and the versatile Bennett have informed manager Davy Fitzgerald they are stepping down.

Full back Feeney (34), who joined the Waterford panel in 1993, and Bennett, a panellist since 1996, each won three Munster senior championships and a National League medal during successful stints with the county team.

Bennett (31) scored 10 points for Waterford during the course of their Munster championship defeat against Clare last June.
