DARREN BECKFORD broke Barnsley's FA Cup heart with a double strike as Oldham finally ended their goal drought to book a fourth round trip to Swindon on Saturday.
Oldham had gone 490 minutes without finding the net until former Manchester City, Port Vale and Norwich striker Beckford hit the first of his two goals after 18 minutes of this third round replay.
After Barnsley had dragged themselves back into contention through former Oldham midfielder Neil Redfern's 58th minute strike, Beckford sent the home side through with a penalty winner nine minutes later.
Beckford, making only his sixth start of the season, started and finished the move which put Oldham ahead, feeding Gunnar Halle and then heading home in emphatic fashion from the Norwegian's excellent cross.
Redfern brought Barnsley level with a brilliant equaliser though, after being fouled by Icelandic international Toddy Orlygsson. The one time Oldham favourite took the free kick himself and gave Paul Gerrard no chance with a swerving 25 yard strike.
Redfearn quickly turned from hero to villain when he was adjudged to have tripped Halle inside the area and Beckford stepped to slot home his third goal of the season from the penalty spot.
