Ballygunner turned in a storming finish to retain the Waterford SH title in an absorbing final at Fraher Field, Dungarvan, yesterday. Trailing for long periods they were dependent on goals from hat trick marksman Michael O'Mahony to keep them in the running against a more resourceful Lismore team.
Lismore led 0-9 to 1-4 at the interval and still led by two points with eight minutes to go after Paul Quinn had scored their goal. That was to be their lot however, and Ballygunner went on to give an exhibition in the last seven minutes scoring 1-5 without reply.
