This weekend's previews
BLACKROCK COLLEGE v CLONTARF
Stradbrook
Blackrock recorded a comfortable 34-17 win over the same opposition on March 9th but can expect a sterner resistance today as Clontarf seek a play-off position. The hosts could do with a bonus point to keep their hopes alive.
Referee: C Stanley (Ulster)
Verdict: Home win
GALWEGIANS v CORK CONSTITUTION
Crowley Park
Although it's unlikely, Galwegians can still be relegated so they will put up a fight this afternoon. But the Cork Con coach, Brian Walsh, only has to remind his charges of last season's league final defeat.
Referee: E O'Dowd (Leinster)
Verdict: Away win
GARRYOWEN V OLD BELVEDERE
Dooradoyle
Belvedere secured their Division One status by beating Lansdowne last weekend so Garryowen are expected to nail down a play-off spot and a home semi-final is also in their sights. The defending champions are coming into title winning form.
Referee: M Black (Ulster)
Verdict: Home win
GREYSTONES v UL BOHEMIANS
Dr Hickey Park
A massive match for Greystones if they are retain their Division One status at the first attempt. Currently level with Dungannon in the last relegation position but trail on points differential.
Referee: A Rogan (Leinster)
Verdict: Home win
LANSDOWNE v DUNGANNON
RDS
Derry Coughlan and Ron Boucher return from injury for Lansdowne, while Eamonn Sheridan and David Kearney are selected despite the under-20 All-Ireland semi-final against Young Munster (yet more ingenious scheduling). Lansdowne are four points adrift at the bottom, with one home victory this season.
Referee: J Lacey (Munster)
Verdict: Home win
ST MARY'S COLLEGE v DOLPHIN
Templeville Road
Captain James Coughlan returns for Dolphin's biggest match in years. If Clontarf lose to Blackrock and they (Dolphin) win (mid-table St Mary's have nothing to play for) they move into fourth place with the Cork derby to finish off the regular season.
Referee: M Hermin (Ulster)
Verdict: Away win
TERENURE COLLEGE V BALLYMENA
Lakelands
Sheer desperation to avoid relegation should ensure a big effort from Terenure.
Referee: G Clancy (Munster)
Verdict: Home win
UCD V SHANNON
Belfield Bowl
UCD can still make the top four although this would require three clubs collapsing over the last two rounds. Shannon's need to secure a home semi-final should be all the motivation they need.
Referee: D Phillips (Leinster)
Verdict: Away
