MARTIN PIPE was over the moon after saddling All Clear to win the Yarcombe Novices' Handicap Hurdle at Taunton yesterday to give him his 10th consecutive century.

"It's nice to get to 100 at Taunton, which is my local track and I also knocked up my first 50 winners here in 1985."

Pipe also trained his first winner at Taunton when Hit Parade landed a selling hurdle in 1977.

The trainer said: "All Clear is lucky to be alive after a bad fall at Wincanton last time. He was so bad we thought he'd broken a shoulder and I kissed him goodbye in the racecourse stable but thanks to everybody concerned, he's made a brilliant recovery.

Title chasing David Bridgwater was handed a four day whip ban after steering home All Clear.

The rider, currently 18 winners behind Tony McCoy in the jockeys' table and second favourite to lift the title, earned a tour day suspension (Jan 27th-29th, 30th, 31st) for using his whip with unreasonable frequency aboard the gelding.

Another trainer celebrating at Taunt on was David Galdolto, who sent out his 800th winner when Garrylough held off Coolree by a length for the Bickenhall Novices' Handicap Chase.

"We decided on different tactics with her this time as I told Mark Dwyer to keep her closer up with the pace and it seems to have worked," explained Gandolfo, ending a barren spell of almost seven weeks.

Turning Trix jumped himself into the Great Yorkshire Chase reckoning at Doncaster later this month with a fluent success in the Tenbury Handicap Chase at Ludlow.

Despite a 7lb rise in the weights for his recent Towcester success the nine year old made short work of his rivals once set alight after the fourth last by Adrian Maguire. Quickly going clear he never gave his supporters a moment's doubt eventually scoring by five lengths at 8 to 11.

Maguire had earlier been seen to good effect when delivering Pridewood Picker with a well timed challenge after the last to land the Neenton Selling Handicap Hurdle at 5 to 1. He completed a near 46 to 1 treble when Shining Light took the Telford Novices' Chase by a length and a quarter.

The market for the William Hill Lincoln Handicap on March 23 burst into life yesterday with both Sharp Prospect and Beauchamp Jazz attracting the early birds searching for value.

The former, trained by Reg Akehurst and runaway winner with the Spring Mile consolation event last season, was supported down from 25s to 12 to 1 favouritism.

Similarly Beauchamp Jazz, trained by champion trainer John Dunlop, was the subject of some hefty support down from as high as 335 to 16 to 1.

Another fearless punter has staked £1,000 each way on the Gay Kelleway trained Samwar at 335 with the Tote who subsequently brought the four year old into 20 to 1.

Among the other horses to attract money were Neville Callaghan's Tarawa, Mary Reveley's Billy Bushwacker and Lord Huntingdon's Beyond Doubt a springer from 33s to 12 to 1 joint favourite with Ladbrokes.

. Richard Quinn maintained his good run in Hong Kong on Wednesday evening after riding Good Assistant to a length victory in the one mile, Peak Park Handicap at Happy Valley. It was Quinn's eighth win in the colony since arriving on December 1st.
