Amy Duggan, a daughter of the Beaufort professional Hugh, left the field far behind in the President's (John Phelan) Prize at the club last week. However, as a junior member, 14-year-old Amy had to settle for second place. Amy's 41 points off a 24 handicap was seven better than the winner June O'Sullivan. However, some consolation for Amy was that her mother Berandette finished in third place.
Another woman in form last week was Lorna Browne, who broke the 16-year-old course record at Courtown. Medical student, Lorna, who plays off five, shot a two-under-par 71 to beat the old record set by Jennie Doyle in 1982.
