Porcelanosa & TileStyle present the Bathroom Design Challenge 2018

Irish designers Brendan Courtney and Sonya Lennon travelled with TileStyle to Porcelanosa HQ in Spain where they visited all eight of the Porcelanosa showrooms in search of products for their bathroom designs.

Their journey to creating their perfect bathroom was filmed and the videos are currently running on TileStyle's Facebook page. Both of their designs are now on display in the Porcelanosa Irish store in the TileStyle showroom Dublin and you can vote for your favourite design here. The winning designer will be announced via Facebook Live from the TileStyle showroom in October.

Sonya’s Porcelanosa bathroom setting was designed as a 'curated sanctuary', incorporating lots of different design elements which ultimately result in a very stylish, contemporary bathroom setting that is both beautiful and practical.

White textured slabs were used on the walls to contrast with the terrazzo style porcelain tiles on the floor and for the feature wall in the shower, stunning gloss green Moroccan-style tiles with irregular edges add another interesting dimension of detail to the setting. These tiles also highly compliment the colours in the terrazzo style floor and pick up the gorgeous green hues within the tiles.

The sleek basin unit is made from the innovative solid surface material Krion and set into a matt black steel frame for a touch of minimalism in an otherwise maximalist bathroom.

The choice of toilet was just as important as every other element in the bathroom and Sonya opted for the ever popular wall-hung toilet with a soft-close seat.

To finish the look, black bathroom fixtures and accessories, including a stunning matt black radiator, were chosen, adding an industrial and chic design touch.

Brendan’s design is a more classic and luxurious style setting featuring show-stopping 120 X 250cm porcelain marble-effect slabs, a beautiful free-standing Krion solid surface bathtub and a stunning matt gold Krion basin. Simple and elegant, with a touch of glamour.

The sleek matt gold basin works in perfect harmony with the porcelain slabs that feature beautiful warm, golden tones throughout the veining.
