WALL STREET closed slightly weaker after a volatile trading yesterday, with high-technology stocks dominating the action.
The Dow Jones index of 30 blue chips closed down 3.98 points to end the day at 5,061.12. Average blue chip share prices had ranged from a 20-point increase to a dip of 40 points.
A total of 379 millions issues changed hands with gainers out-pacing losers by a margin of 1,093 to 1,180 with 778 issues unchanged.
On the bond market, the average interest rate of the Treasury Department's 30-year bonds was 6.16 per cent up from 6.14 per cent late on Thursday.
