A chara, - Mr Sean Butler (Eanair 166) argues that it is inconsistent to allow insurance companies to charge higher rates to young drivers, while objecting to BUPA charging higher rates to aged patients.
One obvious reason for the difference is that the aged are a high risk because of circumstances which are, to a large extent, outside their control. This is most emphatically not the case with young drivers. In fact, to reduce insurance rates for the latter would be open to the objection, that it might encourage them to behave even more recklessly than they already do. - Do chara,
