Sir, - FIFA's decision not to award the finals of the 2006 World Cup to the clearly deserving - and needy - South Africans is as clear a statement as we are ever likely to get of the moral and social bankruptcy of the powers that be in this particular "sport". The question is: has the FAI the backbone to register the disgust of all decent Irish folk by withdrawing from the competition? Or must we force its hand by protesting at every opportunity? -
