Madam, - As a US citizen living in Illinois, I have to agree with Toby Joyce (February 20th) regarding the electability of Barack Obama as opposed to Hillary Clinton. There is a Bush/Clinton fatigue in this country that may be difficult for outsiders to fully understand.
Although many Democrats believe Senator Clinton has the makings of a fine president, we worry about the negativity that would follow her into the White House. There is an irrational hatred of Hillary Clinton among some segments of the Republican Party that will be difficult to live with if she is elected, and after eight years of George W. Bush many of us don't have the stomach for the atmosphere this is very likely to create. - Yours, etc,
