Sir, - Frank McGuinness's otherwise excellent tribute to Dusty Springfield (Weekend, March 6th) incorrectly identifies I Only Want to be with You as the first song to be a Top Ten hit for three different artists (the last version charting in 1979). In fact, almost a quarter of a century earlier, three versions of Stranger in Paradise were simultaneously in the NME Top Ten on May 28th, 1955. Indeed, six versions of the song appeared in the Top 20 around that time. Not bad for a melody by Borodin (1833-1887), who must be the most ancient Top Ten tunesmith, unless someone knows better. - Yours, etc.,
