Sir, - Oh God, Not another Messiah knocker (Arts, December 5th and Letters, January 2nd). To be in the National Concert Hall and hear a 100member choir displaying their range, skill, co-operation, sensitivity and exuberance in And The Glory of the Lord, the first chorus of Messiah, was overwhelming. The ripples and waves of sound back and forth across the choir were what Handel had in his head 260 years ago. How it must have thrilled him to hear it performed!
Messiah got its first performance in Dublin, though spurned elsewhere. All We Like Sheep will continue to flock to it and weep. - Yours, etc.,
