Sir, – As a woman and a practising Catholic, I am heartened by the call from Joe Mulvaney for a “Catholic Spring”. (December 22nd). The challenge of genuine renewal includes recognition that a new and meaningful theology of sexuality is long overdue.

Power for power’s sake, is not my sense of what women want from our church. Rather, many of us look forward to acceptance that we are all equal members entitled, by the same baptism and dignity, to parity of participation in all aspects of the Catholic Church.

The growth of little green shoots of radical inclusiveness where all share the “good news” of Jesus Christ, in a spirit of service with no vestige of clericalism, is my hope and prayer for 2012. – Yours, etc,
