Sir, - Now that the Irish rugby team has been put out of the World Cup, can we finally be rid of Ireland's Call as well? I never knew what was wrong with our national anthem in the first place. Our greatest rugby victories all came when it was sung at both home and away matches, but I suppose the IRFU motto has always been: if it ain't broke, fix it.
Let's hope that by the time the Six Nations tournament starts the Irish flag will be carried on to the pitch and Amhran na bhFiann will be the only song played. Otherwise I don`t think that the IRFU will be representing Ireland and should therefore play under the name IRFU XV. - Yours, etc.,
