Sir, - John Waters's excellent depiction of the post Sixties worldview (January 7th) requires only one addendum. Far from being in fact a culmination of the ages, the present age is a brash new departure which, with an input of much hard intellectual work, could be made to last a few hundred years. But ignorance of this fact, and the consequent lunatic complacency, could reduce its life span to something like that of the Soviet new departure. - Yours, etc.,
Droichead Nua,
Co Cill Dara.
