Sir, - "Further protests to follow day of widespread disruption in North", said the headline in your edition of July 11th.
This disruption obviously extended to the flags on the Shankill Road, as depicted beside your opening paragraph. I counted just over half of the Union Flags in your picture as being flown in an inverted position, which can be interpreted either as a signal of distress, or as a grave insult to the country represented thereby.
Further comment would be, to my mind, superfluous. - Yours, etc.,
D.K. Henderson, Castle Avenue, Clontarf, Dublin 3.
